About Us

Collecting, preparing and restoring fossil vertebrates is nothing new to us.

We’ve been providing our customers with vertebrate fossil skeletons for more than 20 years.  From the 30 cm fish Apsopelix to the multi-ton dinosaurs Albertosaurus and Triceratops, we take great pride in collecting these wonderful fossils using state-of-the-art techniques and preservatives.

Having collected dozens of large fossil vertebrates over the decades, our skill-sets are as sharp as any you will find, as we collect from May through October of each year.  Because of our rigorous collecting regimen, we have been extremely “lucky”.  You will see in this catalog several unique skeletons that cannot be found anywhere else.

Our specimens are collected with the academic buyer in mind, as we document our digs in a variety of ways.  Photographs are taken both in the field and the lab.  Stratigraphic and taphonomic work is performed.  Each site is carefully mapped.  Collateral fossils are collected.  All of the documentation you would expect from an academic dig and more are provided to the buyer.

Clear title to each specimen is also guaranteed, as I am licensed to collect on private ranches in several states.  Site visits are also freely offered for gathering of additional information on any specimen acquired.

Our policy has always been that any fossil vertebrate considered scientifically significant is reserved for acquisition by a pubic institution as part of a permanent collection.  We also recognize that there is some room for interpretation of the term “scientifically significant” as a clear definition does not exist.  In light of this fact, we restrict the availability of any skeleton having unique characteristics to institutional buyers.

All of our skeletons are housed in the world’s first intentionally temporary fossil repository, the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center (RMDRC) in Woodland Park, Colorado.  RMDRC is located just 18 miles from Colorado Springs and only 99 miles from the Denver airport.

TPI retains the commercial casting rights on all specimens sold.  Triebold Paleontology, Inc. (TPI) specializes in making some of the highest quality casts in the world, and is located at the RMDRC.  Unless otherwise noted, purchase of any specimen includes scientific publishing rights.

Our staff looks forward to your visit.  You might want to spend at least a couple of days.  Once here, you can easily spend a day in our museum and lab, and follow it up with excursions to Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, Cave of the Winds, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, historic Cripple Creek, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and the US Air Force Academy to name just a few of the many local attractions this beautiful area has to offer.

Best regards,  Michael Triebold
